It's their job to start the potty training process and decide when it's the right time.
Then it's your job as a professionnal nanny to let them know if you think it's too early for instance and advise to wait a little longer. Or to tell them it's really time to start if the kid is 2 for instance and that they haven't started anything.

At 19 and 20 months, there's no rush to start right now.
Let this mom make her own decision.

-Nanny.

You're a disgruntled parent. Let's be honest.

NO, I am a Nanny.

Yet another nanny here who prefers to introduce between 12-15 months. Once the child is mobile, it’s time. I refuse to introduce and start training at the same time, it doesn’t work. I also make sure I know about any health issues, and I bring up age for potty training in the interview, because again, I’m not waiting until 2.5 or 3 to start...

In terms of experience with potty training, our nanny knows better than me - absolutely. Our nanny has potty trained six children and I have never potty trained anyone. I hired a nanny with education and experience for a reason - I trust and take her advice.

You should speak up, PP. You may well know more than the parents on many topics/issues.

All the families I worked with thank me for teaching them how to potty train thier kids on early age way before 3.
Op, those lazy parents will never learn, probably they're the kind of overprotective parents, in the long run thier kids will suffer. Poor kids. If your not fully potty train you can't go in most preschools. Lazy parents.

The bolded - without question. Our nanny has potty trained over five charges in the last fifteen years and seen many more children in her years as a preschool teacher. Why in the world would I not solicit and take her advice?! I have never potty trained anyone.

Our nanny supports potty training between 20 and 24 months - it has certainly worked effortlessly form my two-year-old who is potty trained at 21 months.
