I would wait until around 4 months along and then tell them. That’s about normal, and if you wait longer than normal, they will wonder what else you’re doing differently than expected.

Tell them and then immediately explain the due date and your intentions. Do you want to keep your job? Do you want 3 months off? What’s the plan? Let them know. Don’t act like you expect them to fire you because that’s illegal and most people would be offended by the inference.

They might surprise you with their generosity.
