Nah, not buying it - 500 is a good bonus, I'd be happy to get that amount. Those who get one or two weeks (700-2k) are outliers... Welcome to reality. |
Maybe I have been lucky, but I have worked for three families and all three gave two weeks salary as a year end/holiday bonus. Honestly. |

No one actually believes a quality family would hire someone who writes like you. |
Generosity isn't something you practice, is it? |
You can't be serious. You're faulting someone for giving 200-500 dollars as a bonus? I'm sorry that you've had such miserable work experiences that you feel the need to lash out - for while it is not an amazing bonus, it certainly isn't one that should generate such a comment. I thank my lucky stars that the two nannies I've employed were talented and SANE individuals. |
I am not a nanny but I do have my own small business and I give a bonus based on many things but the only time I have given less than one week's pay is for an employee whose start date was mid-November and I have her $200! |
The whole bonus discussion is insane. It is a bonus - optional, including in its amount. A small gift and a raise is what most families actually do. |
Most people I know do 1-2 weeks pay. 2 if they can afford it. That's what we do. I leave my kids with this person every single work day. I her to know I want her to stay with us and think she does a great job. |
Thank you for the voice of reason and reality!!! Also, a bonus should be given for excellent job performance (and can also be given at any time of year.) It is not a given. It is not assumed or guaranteed. |
