What a dumb ass you are. How old are you? |

OP you can call the non emergency number and say you would like to go to the house where you worked to pick up a pay check and that you would like and Officer to come with you to keep the situation calm. They will accommodate you for this. Is is the Officers discretion as to how involved they want to get once they are there but usually they don't. The fact the Police are with you may scare them enough to just pay you, knowing you are serious.
If that fails I would definitely take them to small claims court. |
| File a wage and hour complaint - the Department of Labor where you work can help you out. |

No cops cannot collect money. Make an invoice charging them for money and if they don't pay you go to small claims court.
It's illegal in America for cops to accept or get money... judges have to figure it out for you. |
| OP I agree that you will be well served by taking the matter to small claims court. Just want to add that it does not matter whether you were paid legally - there are also legal protections in place for employees who have been paid under the table. If your NF is approachable to conversation you might try to avoid the whole court intervention by emailing them a copy of your civil complaint along with an accounting of what they will pay with fines. Many people in the DC area especially need to preserve their legal background for future employment prospects. That just might motivate them to do the right thing. |
