Does your nanny... RSS feed

Our nanny in our previous city (Chicago) did all the things you expect and more. I loved her.

Our nanny here is just like yours. I am constantly disappointed, but I try to blame it on different expectations in different locations.

We pay $24/h for two kids age 1 and 4. The 4 yo is in school every morning.

I feel like I'm being taken advantage of.

We have moved several times and had a few nannies. Only one organized things and put them away. I find it very annoying. I also find it kind of hard to believe that she is really playing with the kids and their toys when they are put away like that. It is really hard to do a puzzle when pieces from several different puzzles are mixed together and a few are in the Lego bin.

Our nanny is the same. She has been with us 3 years. She puts dresses in drawers folded, and I always hang them on hangers. She will leave toys all over the floor, and our bookcase is a disaster. She also doesn't cook. Just re-heats frozen meals. I think we didn't set expectations up front because we had an infant. Now, we have an older kid with different needs. I feel like she's just not very domestic and that is not going to change.
