Anonymous 20:45 again. I should clarify too that this is just a college job for me and while I do my absolute best I'm making ok money for not a lot of effort plus guaranteed hours and a good schedule. If I was choosing this as a profession though, I would want to be reimbursed. But as of now even though I work full time the job is pretty casual, I love the family, and I'm not interested in trying to get as much money as possible out of them.

I know, "I should" but it maybe costs me at most 10 dollars a week in gas. I drive year 2000 car and even though it's reliable I'm not super concerned with wear and tear. I'm way harder on it outside of work. While you could argue that they should pay for that gas, I'm mostly just greatful that MB and DB are completely ok with me taking the kids out as much as I want and they pay for all the activities.

Then what's the point of you replying to this thread? If you want to add an extra 3000 miles to your car per year great! But don't come trying to sound like you're gracious they allow you to do your job and take advantage of you. Your employers should at least offer and posts like yours are not helpful for nannies that come here for guidance. It's encouraging them to let families take them and what they offer for granted. So many nannies need to find their voices and speak up and stop thinking that their job is any different from any other job. Your employees make WAY more money than you do. "I don't really feel like asking though I know I should" indeed.
