.....Apparently yes.

She told me what she wanted for dinner, told me she was on her way, then tells me she is is having car troubles and would be here soon and didn't show up. I was worried she is on the side of the road alone and maybe something happened. I am starting to think that maybe she did just not show up and is fine. I didn't realize or think anyone would do this.

She was kidnapped and maybe dead by now. Surprised the police refuse to locate her phone to recover her body, or killer.

Are you sure you aren't working on a mystery novel, OP?

Op I completely understand your cause for worry. If I was in your position I would feel the same. But there really is nothing else you can do especially after going to the police. Let us know if you ever hear anything.

Maybe I have seen too many crime shows, I don't know. I just was generally really concerned. This is so out of character for her. She has babysat for us every week 1-2 nights a week for the past year. We have her on a regular schedule and was considering using her an afternoon or 2. I feel stupid that I did not do my homework apparently on this sitter and that I have entrusted someone like this with my child for the past year. Its hard to believe she would just not show up without a good reason but apparently sitters do this.

DCUM you certainly have made me feel like I over reacted. If she was my daughter, and was en route to a job and didn't show up the ways our didn't I would want them to contact the police to make sure she is okay.

Seeing that everything points to a kidnapping and probable attack, I still don't see why police would refuse to check on her.

Hasn't this been posted before?

They didn't refuse. They called her, left her voicemails, tracked her phone and the officer just called and said he went to her house or what they think is her house since she moved recently and she was not there and her car was not either. They told me I've done the right thing and they will keep me posted if anything changes. I don't have any info on her in regards to family or friends contact information.

lol op please shut up. These people are so gullible for responding with serious replies. Why would police work with an employer of an occasional babysitter in an instance like this just because she didn't show for a job? You would have to be a relative and have waited 24 hours.

Some of you are ignorant and nasty condenscending A holes . I,pray that her babysitter is ok. Why the he'll would you make fun,of a person potentially missing ? You are cold hearted B's . if that was someone you knew , you would be on,here crying and angry if people called you a troll . OP, I hope everything is alright . These women need to grow up .

Again, cops can locate the phone and retrieve it. Not hard to do.

My father is a cop and yes phones are reachable but it violates the law and is an invasion of privacy so unless someone is in grave danger like a hostage situation of missing for an extended period of time, they will not do a trace. They will see if the phone is on and if it's being picked up on different towers to indicate the phone is moving as OP said an officer told her that. You don't need to be a relative to report someone missing. OP did the right thing. It's not the movies people you can't just track a phone and go to the person after a day of being "missing".

Doesn't anyone remember that nearly this exact story was posted a couple of months ago?

Considering she has been sitting for you a year already OP, I highly doubt that she would flake on you like this.
However I wouldn't necessarily rule it out completely.

You did a very considerate thing by notifying the authorities given what you knew.
If that was my own daughter, I would be happy that someone out there was looking out for her like you were.

Hopefully she is okay.
Please post us an update soon!

How many days must you wait unless you recover a probable corpse?

Or a roommate or someone else who sees the person every day.
