Post-daycare help vs. Nanny?

Question for you, OP-- on the days when you are at work until 9, do you start later? Or are you anticipating that this nanny job will be 60+ hours a week?

I do start later. On days when I go until 9, I need to be at work at 12:15, so I'll have mornings with the baby even if I don't get to tuck them into bed.

Nannies are convenient but prohibitedly expensive.

To clarify, I meant to say that for the OP's situation of only one kid, having the nanny do all the care is convenient but too costly compared to a daycare + nanny combo. Even if you have to pay higher PT rates, daycare rates can easily be $6-$9/hr because it's group care.

But a nanny share may not be prohibitively expensive, and even if she went with her own nanny, the daycare for full days 5 days per week plus very costly part time nanny is going to be at least ballpark to hiring a full time nanny and only paying for her actual hours.
