You would pay me for the hours worked and if I sprained my ankle in your house/ground because of your negligence, you would pay me for the entire gig. Otherwise, we would be seeing each other in small claims court.

"Judge, yes I'm a babysitter and I tripped and fell on my first day after a couple hours, I would like to be paid for the day plus I need like $30,000 in medical bills."

Judge: "Sure thing, that totally happens to everyone, I got ya back homie."

Are you crazy? The woman worked all day looking after the MB's kids. Why wouldn't she be paid?

OP, definitely pursue this.

If your child caused the fall, you are liable. If your steps were weak and broke, you are liable. You don't get to pick and choose, either you hire someone to work in your home and assume the liability if they are hurt on the job or you send your child to daycare. Simple.

The best thing about this forum is the H.S. educated nannies and work at home moms giving legal advice. Always brightens up my day.

OP here, called the dad and left a message. I'm almost sure he saw who it was and didn't answer. I told him if I didn't hear from him or get the payment I'm owed, I will continue to call until I do.
The longer the silence from this couple the angrier I get.
Thank you to all the people who support me, except the nasty one.

I'm a lawyer who used to represent nannies who weren't paid. At some point, you could send them a certified letter asking them to pay within 2 weeks or you will be considering filing a claim for the amount due. that should get them to produce

Where was the negligence, owning stairs?
Anonymous
17:34 the negligence would be if she fell on the stairs because they weren't properly maintained. A sitter or a nanny has a reasonable expectation that your home be a safe work environment.

I'm just wondering where you got the idea there was a maintenance issue

Better yet, get a lawyer friend to write this on their letterhead.

You must have had a minuscule amount of business.

Yea, many families paying a nanny $1000s a month and with a number of small children in the house have unsafe deathtraps for stairs.
