Why are you offended by OP's title? I'm a firm believer in continuing education for both parents and nannies. In fact it's essential in order to do right by the children.

No one knows everything there is to know in this field.

I'm actually a nanny who posted that, and I did so because this forum would go berserk if an MB posted an article and titled her post "Nannies, you could learn from this." It's smug and condescending. OP could have easily titled her post "great article about why nannies quit." No one wants to be told how to do their job by someone who has never done it, but we can learn from each other by offering our perspective.

nope not smug at all. but what is smug is the thread titled "nannies that want to make more than $15" with a follow up article basically encouraging us to go work in a fast food place. there is a difference. nannies work hard and do a job that not many can. we deserve to be treated with respect and sometimes its overlooked.

Exactly. What do they say?
"Caring for children is one of the hardest,
but most important jobs there is."

Just wanted to add....

Parents walking in door RIGHT AT nannies end time, and wanting to discuss the day (come home 10 mins earlier).
Not paying nanny because "grandparents are in town" , parent comes home early and assumes you want the rest of the afternoon off UNPAID, leaving a sink full of dishes from the night before, expecting the dishwasher to be loaded/unloaded (if it wasn't part of the original agreement), not giving yearly raises.
