This makes no sense. Why would anyone do that? If she is giving you everything she earns why not just stay at home? If she was only earning nanny salary she wasn't a career woman with a high paying job to protect, so I don't see any reason she would want to work and be away from her children during their formative years.

For one she worked from home. She was able to pump or nurse him as she pleased and visit with him throughout the day. They only wanted a nanny for his infancy and wanted him to start at the daycare with the other sibling as a toddler which would give them a significant discount. Not only that but I'm sure she would eventually seek promotions and move up within the company over time. But her husband was definitely the bread winner. People break even with childcare a lot.
