Why do you think you are entitled to 2 weeks of vacation for only 6 months of work? Maybe if you had made it to 1 year, but you weren't meeting their childs needs and they moved on, so you arent owed anything.

1 week of vacation and 1 PTO day is reasonable. PP, how do you know that they aren't switching to daycare due to finances or something else which the nanny wouldn't be able to control or foresee?

Doesn't matter, no matter the situation the nanny doesn't automatically get owed weeks of vacation and time off just for getting hired.

If you didn't discuss it when you were hired, you aren't getting to get paid for unused vacation time, especially if you only worked for them for 6 months. Be glad they gave you a month's notice and chalk it up to a learning experience. - A nanny

The nanny worked 6 months. Why she is being let go is irrelevant. She earned 1 week of vacation and 1 PTO day. If the family doesn't want her to use them, they need to pay them out. However, the nanny was foolish enough to not get a contract. Without a contract, nothing is enforceable, so the likelihood is low that she will get anything.

Ethically yes, they should add the add'l unused days to your pay.

Legally, however...I am not sure they are obligated.

I would research your state laws online or at the library, a law library if you have one.
