+ Agree. We've received some books with a moral relativist message (it's okay if you do X, it's okay if you do Y, everything you might ever feel inclined to do is okay! Horay!!) that I'm sure no one noticed before gifting it to us. We just set it aside and donated it.

Just lightly mention to your nanny that you'd like to keep this book aside until it's returned next week. I wouldn't make a big to-do about it.

If you want a religious fanatic who shares all your views then you should have stated that when hiring. There are families of all kinds and that is not for you to decide. If you want your child sheltered from reality, tell that to your nanny. And what are you talking about with Veggitales?

I do see your point.

It is your child and if you don't want her exposed to same-sex families, even fictitiously you have every right to do so.

As a nanny, I would NEVER do that without discussing it with the family since I know everyone has an opinion on gay couples who adopt.

However the tides have turned and continue to turn, and when she gets older and goes to school, you won't have any right to ban her from learning about these types of families. They will also be something she will be exposed to eventually from T.V., movies or just going out into the real world.

Good luck.
