Both houses have all the supplies (and we can always borrow if we forget something). Houses are 2 blocks apart.

Never been a problem and nanny is happy.

If "both houses have all the supplies," why would you "forget" and have to "borrow" anything?

Clearly the nanny would have a very different story.

Why not try it yourself just for a week? That's the only way to know how it might work. Or not.

Has any parent actually tried to do it?

Seriously? We both have supplies but occasionally someone runs out of something, or its colder than expected and they need an extra blanket, or the baby gets their clothing dirty and they used the extra clothes the week before. We've been switching off for 3 years and it has never been a problem.

Our nanny likes having the variety. Even though the houses are close together, one is still closer to the park and the other is closer to her nanny friend so it gives their days some options. As the nanny also helps out around the house, both families feel like they are getting extra value and neither have to always drop off or pick up, an added benefit. Our nanny can easily get a new job if she hates switching off, but she seems very happy.

Plenty of non-nanny jobs which require the employees to be in multiple locations over the course of a week. My husband goes from Silver Spring to McLean to Bethesda regularly.

I know the nannies here have their pick of tons of $25hr jobs for 1 kid, no housework, in a single location but I am on kid #4 and while both nannies I have had were amazing, there were certainly more nannies than jobs and they were happy to work for a nice family who respected them, paid them, and treated them well, even if it meant switching between houses.
