My MB is aware of this, and has no issue with it. She prefers that I'm recharged when my charge is awake. Personally if a family had a problem with it and expected me to work every minute of the day I'd run and not look back. Honestly if you were a SAHM would you still keep busy or rest when your child finally slept?

If I was paying someone $50k a year actually I would have high expectations for childcare and household management (ie. Work done and quality of work).

And if I were making 50k a year then yes but I'm not.

You need to sleep for FOUR hours during the day?!?!? Go to a doctor, there is something very physically wrong with you. Seriously.

Who in the heck needs to be napping 4 1/2 hours a day?

I agree - there is something very wrong with you and OP. Are you obese? Have you had your blood pressure checked? What you are doing is extremely unhealthy and a bad sign.

If you are tired during the day drink a spark . Works wonders

MB here, if I was paying $40k a year I would also have high expectations of my nanny. And if she outperforms she gets raises. Attitude problem, gets fired.

Excessive need for sleep would have nothing to do with obesity or blood pressure. So, while I agree that there is a medical issue, you, PP, have no clue what you are talking about.

NP here and you are wrong. Both very low blood pressure or obesity could cause lethargy and the need for excess sleep. Obesity leads to sleep apnea which robs the obese person of needed sleep at night thus making her need more sleep during the day.

Look it up.

The amount of downtime a nanny with 1, 2, or 3 charges can vary drastically day to day. Some days I can do nothing for a good two hours in the afternoon and others days I can't.

You may luck out on occasion when both children sleep at the same time, but that would be a rare occurrence since infants usually do not abide by a set schedule for anything.

I know caring for one child is simple, caring for two children is like caring for ten children. Much tougher work.

And yes, I agree your work day is long.

So you have to decide now if you are the right person for this type of job or if you should look for another one which consists of caring for only one kid.

Good luck.

You must be joking.

You are going to have to get organized personably (eat breakfast before you show up, pack your lunch, go to bed earlier) and get a routine at the job (and not centering around your nap).

Btw, daycare workers work 7-7 and don't nap...

Bull. When I worked in a daycare, I worked 7:30 - 4 and still got a half hour duty-free break. Go ask the department of labor.

I worked at a daycare 10hrs a day. Like any job I got a break at luncg. However I was never accommodated for a nap.
What grown ass adult needs a nap in the middle of their work day and expects this to happen in the workplace

I used to nap for half an hour or so when my charge was the only child and slept for 2+ hours. Boy was I in for a surprise after the new baby came. The first few weeks were fairly hard to adjust to (not the lack of the nap but the change in duties, etc), but then it was fine.

If you're healthy and active, you'll be fine.
