Sue the family AND the agency ![]() |
Pay agencies say they'll pull it when they place you. Are you sure you didn't authorize it and forget? Or authorize a background check without reading the fine print to see it includes a credit check too? In any case I'd contact them to let them know they're doing it wrong since it was a hard pull that triggered your credit monitoring service to contact you. |
Why do people defend agencies, no wonder good nannies go to Online? This nanny now has had her FICO rating dropped and any responsible agency should ask for permission to do a credit check, it has little to do with a background check on what a nannies credit rating is. The Nanny Network should be blasted out for what have done to this nanny, shame on them period!!! ![]() ![]() |
Has APNA ever reprimanded a member agency for misconduct towards a nanny? |
Found the family on here, DCUM. Those are the forms she used. |
Since you are leaving already, you have nothing to lose if you ask them directly why they checked your credit rating.
I would be miffed personally, but try to get a straight answer from them. |
Can't wait to hear what they tell you, OP. She might be shell shocked that you found out. That should teach her a lesson. She'll probably quickly add on a fat bonus check so you don't report her and sue. |
OP HERE, SHE SAID IT IS GIVEN AS AN OPTION WHEN DOING THE BACKGROUND CHECK (and apparently it is in the form I signed, now I know to be really careful when signing these forms and to READ!) AND THAT THIS WAS COMPLETED PRIOR TO ME STARTING THIS SUMMER... I JUST PURCHASED A NEW CAR ON SUNDAY AND I RECEIVED THAT ALERT ALREADY SO I WOULD HAVE RECEIVED THIS ALERT BACK IN JUNE IF THATS THE CASE. Thanks ladies for all the feedback, this is my last week so I am over it, but still uncomfortable and her checking this. |
I was offered and accepted a very high-paying nanny job with a prominent couple and their business managers informed me that they could run a complete background check on me including a credit report.
Whatever. |
No. |
Sorry op. This is your fault. You didn't read the forms you signed so that's on you. I've found the capital one tracker to be unreliable. I use a different service and capital one is routinely late with things showing up (I have had loans, car payments, mortgage, cosigner to loans at various points). Capital one is sometimes delayed with showing things and sometimes doesn't show at all. Heck, their credit score isn't even the same as my other credit score. Anyways, now you know to actually read stuff before you sign it. |
How is this the employers fault? Not sure why the hate is directed at them. They ran a background check that included a credit score. Op signed the forms okaying this. It's not the parents fault for assuming a professional would actually read what she's signing. |
+1 |
Which service have you found to be better? |
Some people just want to be nosy for no good reason. Next time just say no, unless you agree to manage their finances.
Most nannies no longer agree to this. |
