Sleep is critical and therefore napping is critical until children naturally drop the nap. If you rely on them to just adjust to you removing the opportunity to nap you will end up with chronically overtired kids. Sleep that is outside of the child's natural biological rhythms is less restful. |

Sleep is critical, naps are not. Your kid will just sleep more at night. He/she will be fine.
I know of a great program in mclean that has those hours. Perhaps you are thinking of that one? The added bonus of that class is that beginning of school year, they only have a few kids in that afternoon class so the teacher to kids ratio is ridiculous. By spring the class has grown to normal size. I would totally do it. |

Is the program every day? What is his nap schedule like now? What is his current night time sleeping like normally? Asleep by? Wake up?

I was a NP, so sorry my evidence of naps being beneficial bored you. Of course naps aren't always possible, but when they are they should be available for people as it improves health, concentration, and productivity. I posted earlier saying dropping the nap at that age depends entirely on the child in question and what their overall sleep looks like. |

Depends on the kid.
My dd dropped her nap at 19 months. My 3yo twin boys are still taking 2.5 hour naps daily. The become absolute beasts with non-stop meltdowns if they don't get a nap. You know your child. If he needs his nap- FIND A NEW SCHOOL. It's only preschool- many kids skip preschool and are just fine. |
