What are standard rates, benefits, for our situation?

What's the "standard" rate for what you do, OP?

$16-20/hour. Pay 2 weeks vacation + holidays you also get off of work + a bonus at the holidays. We don't offer sick days. If our nanny is sick, we pay her and she doesn't come. If her family member is very ill, we pay her and she doenst come. We don't set a number of days though that she has. She acts responsibly and we trust her.

NP here and not incompetent - just careful. I do not leave anything on a gas stove when I could (and always would be) called away by one of the kids. It is an elementary safety issue that has nothing to do with ability. If you do, you are taking a terrible risk.

OH GOOD LORD! This is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever read here and that is saying something. So what do you feed the children? You never cook anything for them? That is just beyond ridiculous. I care for toddler triplets and I manage to prepare almost all of their meals including their baby food when they were younger from scratch. I do most of my cooking while they are napping simply because it's easier but I'm perfectly capable of boiling pasta or steaming vegetables for their dinner while they are awake. My NF also has an open floor plan so it's very easy for me to be in the kitchen and them in the family room as I can see them and I'm right there.

Use your common sense and safety measures. Baby proof the kitchen and other areas the kids are in. When cooking have handles on pots and pans turned away to the back so little hands can't grab them. Use the back burners so they can't reach. Also, there is this nifty thing you can do with burners called turning them off that literally takes 2 seconds if something were to really go down that was an emergency that needed your attention.

Don't ask on here. There are a lot of bitter nannies on this board making it seem like an unrealistically high pay is standard. This board is anonymous and you can make multiple entries supporting your previous claim of $50+++ per hour being standard pay... Look around at other sources. Care.com has an average pay for your area. For my area in close-in DC, it says $16.50 is average pay in my area.

You're super stupid. Care has wages BELOW the Federal minimum wage. Illegal broken-English nannies get more than $16.50 in the DC area. Most are off the books.

I think salaries posted here are a bit inflated.
Our neighbors in Tysons are in your exact situation. They pay the nanny $15 an hour for hours when watches two kids and $18 an hour for hours when she has the third kid.
This way the nanny doesn't view the third child as a burden.
They are very happy with their nanny.
She gets some vacation paid (not sure how many days exactly) and all federal holidays paid as well. I know they do not pay overtime.

Bottom line- when interviewing nannies do not offer an inflated rate, ask them how much they want to make. After several interviews, you will get a good feel about nanny pay in your area.

15 for 2 and 18 for 3 sounds about right. Honestly, you cannot trust this board because of nannies making up inflated rates. +1 for post above. You need to find out from the actual nanny market instead of this bulletin board. I did and I found it to be 12-17ish for 2 kids. That is paying on the books so nanny gets less.

If that's the case, they never use her for more than 40 hours or they're paying off the books.

And No One paying off the books pays below minimum wage, right? Of course not. And you're the expert of nanny pay rates for illegals in the DC area because......?
