You need to pay her regular salary (her guaranteed hours) and then pay her for any additional evening hours she might work for you.

I, personally, HATE traveling with my employers and it doesn't matter where we go. The kids are off their schedule, my employers are around all the time, and the kids are generally over-stimulated -- basically nothing vacation-like for me. I am working.

Agree.

We pay a travel rate for the "inconvenience" of being away from home.

We pay her normal week compensation but we spell out that hours will be different. One day would be 7am -12 and then 4-7. Another day would be 12-8. We would let her know the tentative plan at the start of the trip.and then nail down the plan the day before so she could plan what she wanted to do.

Food, room and all activities paid with us. She was free to eat out or do something else but pay for herself. She usually ate a few meals while she was out and exploring but she ate with us a bunch.

I’m a MB and I would pay $50 an hour for a Hawaii trip. What is the other option? Using the hotel babysitter and letting some rando take care of my kids? Not having any private time on my vacation?

I am paid $35 an hour for guaranteed 45 hours a week. When I travel I get an extra $100 per day, + a per diem amount. Depending on spot- it comes out to $400-$500 a day.
