I honestly think some of the so called good nannies use this as a place to vent and let off steam so they can be good at their jobs.

I am actually more suspicious of the sunshine and happiness nannies.

I also think much of the drama from both employers and nannies is an act just a way to draw attention and entertainment and not truly a reflection of how they are in real life.

Thanks, op, for posting. None of the nannies I know in real life are like the nasty nannies who populate this forum. Not all the nannies here are mean, and there are some threads where nannies and MBs give good and kind advice and support. Sadly, they don't post often because some mean nanny troll is going to insult them. I don't blame them.

I think the biggest problem here is that there is a group of prolific posters (who I think are nannies, sometimes pretending to be MBs, or neither nannies nor MBs but just garden variety internet trolls) who use this forum to entertain themselves. The more outrageous their fake posts, the more they like it. When they aren't starting trouble, they post insults to posters who disagree with them and generally enjoy bullying people on the internet.

It's sad, really, but there isn't much that can be done about them, except ignore them and try to find the useful threads with serious contributors.

I would hope that this nanny forum is not the "be all" of nannies everywhere.

I have seen some nice nannies on here however.

I'd purposely pick a non-English speaking nanny just to avoid accidently getting a DCUM "nanny"!

Thank you for posting this! Lots of responses on here freak me out- so mean! Thank god all nannies aren't like this. I'd fear for the children of DC.
