That is absurd. The candidate accepted an offer for a start date that she later was unable to meet. She accepted a job under false pretenses basically - she was unavailable to do the job for which she was hired. The legal breach of contract is hers, not the employer's. This is not on the OP in any way - legal or moral. |

| OP here. We never changed our start date or the terms of the contract--she did. She gave her current employer a Nov. 28 end date and never asked us (her start date was Nov. 17). It's worth mentioning that she also couldn't locate her birth certificate or ssn card and asked to start without it. Clearly, we dodged a bullet... |
