WWYD - Not receiving pay on time??? RSS feed

In addition, I get extra money on the first of the month for my health insurance/gas. MB had it set up wrong where instead of going in on the first, it took 3 business days to clear after the first. She was mortified and said she'd fix it right away (even though I assured her it was no big deal, I could wait for Monday for the money to go through). I didn't even bring it up - she just asked. Anyway, she was so worried about me not having my money on time, she made her husband pay me cash.

I wouldn't say op is having to fight for her check. She is paid weekly which is better then most. I've had plenty of jobs that pay on the 1st and 15th. I've even had 1 that paid monthly. She can get her check on Friday or Monday.

I don't understand why folks say that they have to pay for direct deposit... It is free with so many banks. I have accounts in 3 banks and all of them allow to transfer money with no fees... OP, I'd ask your family to check with their bank, will save them checks.

Get the check Monday.
Or maybe the can open an accountinthe same bank as you, or vice versa, and then dirct deposit is free.

yes, the transfers are free but most banks have 2 or 3 day lagtime (when it is actually available to the recipient) unless it's between accounts at the same branch. We opened up an account at the same bank as our nanny so it's the same as a direct deposit - available immediately.

My payday follows my employers, which happens to fall on a day I do not work. I receive my paycheck the following Monday. This seems easy.

You can cash a post dated check, so that makes no difference.

++ yeah, that is what I was going to say, they're probably tight on $ and worried you might go ahead and deposit/cash it. Not that you would, but..."post dated" means nothing to many banks.

Getting paid at the end of your work week is unusual. Most employers process payroll after the pay period closes and then employees are paid up to a week later. I would just get used to picking up your check on Mondays.
