Nanny Health Issues - What would you do?

Due to confidentiality issues between Dr. & patient, it will be next to impossible to get any medical information from her M.D. so this option is scratched.

My sister experiences this exact same thing where she has these "episodes." Her Dr. refers to them as seizures and while she takes Topamax for it, she can still experience these at any time. She had her license taken away so she is not lawfully allowed to drive.

During her episodes, she rarely remembers anything. She has fallen asleep as well as urinated on herself and not remembered.

OP, I feel for you regarding your empathy toward your nanny's financial situation.

But considering your nanny fell asleep w/a one yr. old as well as lit a napkin on fire are truly alarming incidents.

God forbid your children get harmed and/or you lose your harm.

Your back is up against a wall here. You HAVE to let her go. For the welfare of your children. It is your duty as a parent. No exceptions.

You can also give an extended, unpaid leave of absence and reevaluate in a month or three when she may have stabilized. Certainly don't be leaving your children with her now, but that is what my employers have done. (A temp nanny while I'm recovering and I know the job is waiting for me once I'm well again.)
