Man, if I kept kosher I would totally hide a nanny cam in the kitchen so I could fire that nanny who will lie to my face but throw dairy forks in with meat forks because it doesn't matter to her.

I have a camera detector. I am hoping someone will tape me without my permission because the legal fees for doing so would be more then I get paid in a year. Bring it on with you illegal hidden camera. We were made for each other.

Nanny cams are not illegal, even if they are hidden. As long as they aren't in the bathroom.

What state do you live in? Some prohibit only video or audio without consent but not one state permits video and audio taping another person without notice. Please respond with your location so I can link to your state law.

NP here. It is not illegal to video anyone without notice. Audio depends on the state. Here is a link to the law in Virginia, but here is a relevant excerpt:

"Videotaping which lacks voice recording has not been prohibited by either state or federal law. Such videotaping commonly occurs in public places, such as retail establishments and banks. In addition, such videotaping may occur in one's home when one is attempting to film the actions of a nanny or daycare provider."

Here's one more about audio recordings in Virginia. It looks like only 1 person has to give consent and that can be the parent giving consent for the child.

Virginia's wiretapping law is a "one-party consent" law. Virginia makes it a crime to intercept or record any "wire, oral, or electronic communication" unless one party to the conversation consents. Virginia Code § 19.2-62. Therefore, if you operate in Virginia, you may record a conversation or phone call if you are a party to the conversation or you get permission from one party to the conversation in advance. That said, if you intend to record conversations involving people located in more than one state, you should abide by the recording law of the most restrictive state involved, or play it safe and get the consent of all parties.
