That is what I will do when my charges are preschoolers. I think it would be rather cruel for my (again ) one-year-olds. So I will stick with telling them "no swings yet" for the first 45 minutes of our visit.

I know I am far stricter about safety and manners than the parents. For example, the MB/DB let the 3 yr old stand up in the bath tub and I don't. When I've been giving a bath and the DB or MB are in the bathroom and I leave for a moment my charge will stand up and then sit down quickly when I walk back in. So apparently my authority overrules the parents leniency!

Swinging is actually exercise for the child.

Even the younger children are learning how to make the swing go by itself by moving their legs.

They also must give hugs and say sorry when they hurt thier sibling.

Swings are saved until the end of the park or else they are on the swing for the whole time!
