I locked it so they would stay outside. Some kids don't like going outside. I make them. They have all survived just fine.

Unless your friend stayed and watched the situation unfold, you really don't know what happened. It is entirely likely that she opened the door seconds after she closed it.

She may be a crappy parent, but this is not a reportable issue.
