DC MB here.

Race and ethnicity are not a factor in our hiring and we would never hire an illegal immigrant or pay under the table as both would be breaking the law.

We consider it a bonus that our kids are learning some spanish from their nanny, but honestly I would almost rather that her english be more fluent.

Regardless, she was the most comfortable choice/best fit for our family (and not the cheapest FWIW).

I'm quite the opposite.I don't care if nanny's English is not good.As long as she can call for help in English, I'm happy.Children pick up English on their own.
I was an Aur Par years ago and the kids understood me easily while the parents at times had to ask:"huh?".
