I had a family who would not hire me because I've been vaccinated. I didn't understand how would my having shots taken as a kid hurt their children. |
Just to add a little twist, how do you think families would react to having nanny candidates ask them for their shot records and their HIV or HepC test results? |
I would think the HIV and HepC are excessive but I posted previously that I thought it was excessive to ask the nanny that too. As far as the shot record goes, I would have no problem providing it but would probably think it was a little odd unless she had a young child herself or worked for another family as well. The only reason I care about her shot record is because I have a newborn. I actually didn't ask the nanny about her shot record when I hired her because I had older children then and they were fully vaccinated themselves. When I was pregnant I asked her to get a flu shot because the baby was due right in the middle of flu season. I also asked her about tdap but she'd already had it. |
HIV doesn't make any sense for a nanny to need on the job. |
This is a good point and I shouldn't lump them all together. The recent measles outbreaks have made me even less patient with anti vax people. I'm also immunocompromised myself, so I do need a nanny with the flu shot. However, in a different situation, I can understand people passing on that shot. |
