Any regrets hiring a youngish au pair RSS feed

Generally if you get a young aupair they will be just out of high school and taking a year off to figure out what they want to do/study before they go to university. A lot of German girls come over at a young age as they seem to have to choose their career when they enter university. Older aupairs may have graduated college and want to travel before settling down or improve their English for their career. Some older aupairs just don't know what they want to do. We have had over 20 aupairs and good luck with girls of all ages. However, in general would suggest searching for over 21. If you limit to over 25 you'll have very few to select from and if you get someone over 21 they will have had some school or work experience and more driving experience and be a little more mature.

Hello everybody! I read some messages and some of you have questions and some concerns about Aupairs. My personal experience: I wanted to go as an Aupair to Germany, I searched online, and found several options to establish communication with different families in Germany. In two weeks, a really nice family contacted me! I was really happy that finally i would fulfill my dream! All this process, I did it through aupairs Currently I am in germany working as an Aupair, I can just say its an amazing experience to learn a new language and a new culture!

Our current au pair is 19. The next one coming will also be 19. What I like about this is that they are not old enough to drink in the US. Our current au pair is very responsible and we had zero issues with her age. In fact, I think her going from her parents' house to our house is ideal because she is used to answering to adults and has not yet experienced life "on her own." I would worry about older au pairs struggling with the structure and rules that comes from being an AP in a host family home.
