The contract did state I would be given at least 2 weeks in advance. I reiterated that before taking the position and numerous times afterward. The mom always seems like an airhead. |
Then call and or email asking them when you should expect the check for the two werk's worth of notice pay that they owe you. I would not call it severance - it is notice and that is what the contract apparently covers. It is up to them if they choose not to use you during the notice period. |
Given this, you're approaching it wrong. You should have contacted the mom and stated that you see in the contract that there is a two-week notice period that you agreed upon. Let her know you're happy to work during this period, but that you request that she honor your commitment so that you can have some buffer while looking for a new job. Speak up. |
And no, OP, that's not severance. That's a notice period. |
I ended up contacting the parent's on Saturday afternoon about the notice and pay. They haven't nor probably will. They tried to underpay me for hours I worked for the first week. I won't ever see that money.. |
That really sucks, OP. I guess the only good thing is that they didn't get to screw you for long. I'm sorry ![]() |
Although in my almost 10yrs ago contract says, 2weeks severance pay if
They let go of me, but after almost 10yrs working with this family kiddo is now in middle school my hours Got cut off leaving me to 10-12hrs. Week. This situation left me With no choice but to leave them, I didn't get any thing not even a single thank you card For the almost 10yrs of working for them.. ;(( Still can't believe that had happened. |
go and claim umemployment, you have had continuous employment even though you were with them for just 3 weeks. Also sueing for unpaid wages is easy to do. And the employer will have to compensate you triple the amount they owe. just go and make the claim. They are playing games with you, but the law is on your side |
they probably saw you do something on a camera that they didnt like. |
