| $120,000 for 65-70hrs. Def on high side. |
| I'm in New York City. |
| Man, I'm in the wrong line of work. |
It looks nice on paper, but the nannies making over $50K work a ton of hours and put up with the usual crap and entitlement you get from people with money to burn. Its not all bubbles and sing-alongs.
|
This is no different than most jobs in America. Long hours, demanding/unreasonable bosses and clients. |
This can be true. I am the poster on pg 1 who makes $72k. I had a previous job I made about 40k for about 35 hours. It was weird how the parents loved to be home. They wanted to be the ones putting the kids to bed, giving them bathes, planning play dates and so on. With more money you get more of the crazies. Over the years I've learned to pick and choose the families I work for on a craziness scale not on the rate of pay. |
|
I net around $42,000/year for an average of 45 hours per week. I'm paid cash so this is what I take home no matter what.
Very high end for my area. |
You realize that you will be missing out on unemployment, Medicare and SS benefits because you are paid under the table? |
I have no idea how old the PP is, but there's certainly no guarantee that she'll get social security or how much it will be. Who knows what the status of the system will be by the time she's eligible. No one should count on those benefits. |
I'm 25 and this will be the last family I nanny for. I have been working on opening my own nanny agency over the last year and will be doing that full-time come next summer so no, I am not worried about the above listed. |
| 45,500. paid in cash as well. I live in TN where unemployment couldn't buy toilet paper, let alone pay the rent. And before we all get IRS crazy.... this is my first off the books job... I've paid my taxes since I was 14 (20 years ago). And by the time I turn 65, there won't be SS or Medicare at the rate we are going. |
So you get to decide when you pay taxes? I have paying taxes for 20 years also. And I still do. I hope you get caught. |
+1. |
This is not always true. I'm the poster making $78K in the San Francisco area. This is the nicest family I've ever worked for and I love my job. I work 50 hours a week and have a great relationship with both MB and DB. |
