Many people have found ways to make it through life without being a cam girl. A lot of people pay prostitutes just to talk to them, does that make their job any less shameful? She is a glorified stripper, anyone who doesn't think this is shameful just ask yourself one question. Would you want your daughter to do it? |
OP, it depends on the specific checks the family runs. Most families unknowingly think they are getting a good background check, when really it is just basic and surface-level. On this type of check, it would not come up. If they hire an agency, or a P.I. firm to do the check for them, then it might come up in their screening, especially if they perform a credit check. |
Do what you want but if you decide to work in any industry related to children, it will eventually come out. Nothing is safe or secure on the internet and any parent who decides to use a private investigator (I know a few who have) will easily pull up your information. You have to be an IT genius to not be tracked.
To answer your question, It will not show up on a background check unless you committed a crime related to it. I grew up extremely poor without family support in any form, I've never once thought of entering the sex industry to support myself. If your going to do it, at least own up to the fact you either enjoy it or prefer the money but don't use being poor without support as an excuse or justification for your actions. This will come back to haunt you sooner or later and I suggest if you want any kind of career outside that industry that you get out immediately. |
You PP's sound insecure trying to slut shame OP. |
You women are bitches. Your husbands are probably the ones paying to look at OP because they're married to tight-assed, pretentious, prudish mommies.
Judge lest ye be judged, you shrieking harpies. |
I never said she wouldn't be a wonderful nanny, but when we try to hide these things, they have a way of coming back to bite us in the butt. And while OP says she has taken precautions that no one would recognize her, what would happen if someone did while she was working with someone's child and that person started harassing her. Yes, there is a slim chance that would happen, but it could happen. We all make our choices in life and we all have to live with the consequences. If a family asks about her employment history and sees gaps because she doesn't want to put it in there, it might be a red flag for a family. While she did say she was in school, if there are other gaps in her employment history that she can't account for, it could be a red flag for some families. And let's see....how many teachers or others have been fired when it has been discovered they were doing "adult activities" for money on the side? |
Good point. However I agree that you all need to stop slut shaming. Posing online and cam work is not the same thing as prostitution. She's simply using her assets to her advantage. To the pp who says OP is destroying relationships... If the husband wants to watch girls online he will. It has nothing to do with OP's choices. |
I'm sorry, but where did I ever slut shame this girl? I may not agree with her choices, but I have never called her a slut. Yes, I did call her a sex worker, because she does work in the sex industry. She may not be having sex with a customer, but she still is in that industry. |
Past employment can show up on background checks, OP. There are different ... levels, if you will, of background checks, that go to different depths of a person's history. I've seen ones where all I can tell is a current address and that the person hasn't been arrested, but seen others where I know that your parents have retired to Florida, what your father did for a living, which union he's in, every home you've lived in going back half a dozen homes, etc. |
As the immediate PP said - employment can show up on background checks. You should probably just assume that your other employment will become evident to a potential or current employer at some time and be prepared to handle that.
I think you also need to be prepared for different perceptions in what you did before choosing to become a professional nanny, versus what you decide to do WHILE being a professional nanny. Potential employers might think differently about those two scenarios. I don't judge you for making your living this way, and I don't think it's the same as prostitution (though I admit to not knowing a great deal about the spectrum and where various jobs fall along that line). I'm a pretty liberal MB but I think I would be uncomfortable with having a nanny who is also earning money with this kind of modelling. I'm not sure I can be particularly articulate about why, and I'm not even sure I'm proud of the sentiment. But I think that if I had two candidates for a position and I felt both were equally qualified I would go with the other candidate. Sorry. Best wishes. |
Op , u said urself that u will continue doing that if chance giving . Why asking advice then ? |
If it did show up would it matter? It might say that you worked for ABC inc. If the name shows up as Sex Bitches then you might have a problem.
But the fact is most people do not run background checks. They do check references however. |
Sorry, I didn't phrase my response correctly. I thought you made a valid point. I was referring to other pp's about the slut shaming |
OP here, hey all! So I got 2, maybe 3 replies to my actual question... not bad at all for a childcare forum. Thanks a lot for that info!
Yeah, I'm thinking it may only be on the credit checks.. because I had no employer (they list you as an independent contractor) and only the company names on my paychecks came up at the tax office. One of them was fine, the other was clearly a little suspect. To answer some concerns, of course I'm not getting arrested or doing anything illegal. I have a perfect criminal history, driving record, everything you would expect from a wholesome country girl like me. And I definitely don't have sex with anyone buy myself on cam. Sometimes not even that. A lot of guys going online are just lonely and want someone to talk to, someone to treat them nicely and make them feel special for a while. Any wives baring their teeth at me for threatening families better take a good hard look at themselves in a mirror and make sure they're really giving their guy a partner worth being invested in. Why would a man choose to spend time with me, someone they know is at work and making good money just to connect with them, if they had at least a half decent option of the real thing in their home for free? It doesn't matter what you look like. You need to be intimately AVAILABLE to them. And most cam girls feel this way. We don't want your men, lol! (Can't say the same about most nannies.... aaahh, jk jk!) |
Uh-oh. Can of worms |
