Glad this is an anon board
I actually had a pacifier til I was 8! I know horrible but I loved it and I guess just one day stopped. I actually have amazing straight teeth with no help from braces. Aside from a night brace because yes I did have an overbite but its all corrected now. My brother actually sucked his thumb until he was 13 |

I sucked my thumb until I was 10 and was constantly sick with ear infections and colds from putting my dirty thumb in my mouth while on the playground or whatever.
The benefit of a paci is that it can be taken away, finger sucking is a difficult habit to break and parents/nannies can't control when it happens. If the paci is taken away too soon (and IMO before 18 months is too soon) it will backfire and the kid will end up discovering the thumb. |
My kids never used a pacifier and are not thumb suckers either. It depends on the child, no paci doesn't automatically mean thumb sucking. |

OP, it's the parent's call with this. If they don't want to remove the pacifier yet then you should let it go. Pick your battles.
It is highly unlikely that this will do the child significant harm. And it is equally unlikely that you can alter the choices of the parents. |
| Who cares if the baby has paci. People get spun up over the dumbest things. Some kids need the extra sucking and/or comfort it brings and some don't. Everyone has their little comfort things. Everyone. |
The child in question does use a paci, so you're point is irrelevant. |
