Consider lowering your expectations to $23 per hour, then charge one family $14 and one family $9. At those rates, they both have an incentive to maintain the share, and you would be making more than you could make in most other jobs caring for either three kids in one family or two kids in a share.

Truth is market rates for one child in DC is $15/hr. There are many, many available nannies at this rate and they are great.
