Now for the important question: does potential/future MB offer to buy you a coffee?
|
|
I don't understand why potential families like to meet potential nannies at a local coffee shop like Starbucks, etc. It's so dumb. It's not exactly kid friendly.
I strongly suggest a kid friendly venue by far. The best choice for that would be a park w/a playground or at the very least a large grassy area. Maybe a library for story hour, but that would depend on the age of the child. |
|
I do interviews at the public library. We can either find a quiet part of the children's section or sit near the childrens' section where we can see the kids from afar.
Much quieter environment. Only drawback is that the library doesn't open at 7am before the business day. |

I hate these too usually. I prefer to see where the families live, how long my commute would be, meet the kids, etc. Usually it's the moms who ask for this because they don't want to introduce their kids to all these new people until they make a decision.
I actually had a Starbucks interview today and it was great. I find as long as you can find a quiet place to sit and chat (outside if possible) it can be great. We can focus one on one with each other and have a nice chat. I hate when it's crowded and loud, it's not a good atmosphere for an interview at all! |
| If you hate it, suggest a different place when they suggest Starbucks! |
Bringing the children makes it extra hard on everyone. |
|
I don't mind Starbucks at all... I take my charges there all the time. If I have an interview with children present it lets me see how mom or dad handles their snowflakes in a non-childfriendly environment.
|
Agreed. Do a phone interview first, background check, then an interview at home. Interviews at different places are strange. |
You're confused. You need the nanny's SSN and signature to run a background check. I would maybe let you have a reference or two if you felt fearful, but you'd need to do the same so I can feel safer about going into a strange house. |
Which is why I told OP to suggest another place if she's unhappy with Starbucks. Try and keep up, sweetheart. |
Why do you feel the need to refer to children in a derogatory manner? And it seems to have come up completely unprovoked. I'm disturbed by how strongly you dislike kids, considering you're a nanny. |
You my sweet, don't get a meeting. Anywhere. In fact, I can't imagine any respectable person wanting to be anywhere near someone like you. Maybe you're a wanna be. Best wishes to you. |
Could you point out the derogatory part.... I really don't understand. |
| 17:50 is our residential nasty poster. She's telling us she has a snowflake, which makes her the queen bee, so she thinks. That totally explains her nastiness on every thread. Nothing personal towards any of us, it's just how she is. She'll fight you on virtually everything even though she has little, if any, actual experience. Can you imagine her poor husband?!! |
Doubt she's married. She might be happier if she was getting laid |
