I quit because they were going on a 4-week vacation and were just going to lay me off for that time. I thought I was being generous when I told them I would need at least two weeks of pay for that time. They told me their vacation cost so much that they couldn't afford to pay me during that time.

I was sad. I liked the job otherwise - the kids and parents.

And we wonder how children are damaged in early childhood. A sense of stability is often the lowest priority on their parents' list.

Some of these employers are getting away with quite a bit of breaking the law.

I quit because the children were horribly unruly to the point of biting and threatening to harm me with scissors. When I told the parents about it, they told me to just spank them or lock them in their rooms. I quickly figured out why they were so violent. By the end of the week the children were a bit more behaved, but still had violent outburst. I was already on the edge of quitting then on payday I got about 200 less then I was promised, when I bought it up they said they changed their mind about how much they wanted to pay me. I just never went back.

Guaranteed hours are not offered under the law. Perhaps they should be, but an employer isn't breaking the law when they pay only for hours worked.

Because a relative of mine offered to pay for grad school and we weren't able to find a schedule that worked for everyone.

I quit because they tried giving me a paycut but wanted to add more duties including laundry and bathing, which I wouldn't have minded but c'mon.. Kinda like Wendy's - Charing more for food yet giving much less/shrinking.

Employer have camera installed in their apartment that is remotely accessible by their cellphones, it follows me around ;( not the bathroom ofcourse with that situation they don't want me to leave the house with their colicky baby who cries terribly a lot! I only worked with them for 3wks one day a week only. The third week and the last time I worked, I took the baby out to a friends house who happens to have a charge same age as my charge, MB texted me to come home right away that she is worried about her baby, and to text her right away soon as we get home. That same day I quit!

How dare you take the baby out against her wishes. Of course she was worried about her baby.

She already said the family hadnt informed her not to take the baby out but either way, asking someone to stay inside with a colicky baby is cruel.

No, you didn't mention that. She should have fired you before you had the chance to quit
