Frustrated with our nanny. RSS feed

It's a child's birthday party, not a dinner party. No one was delayed because of her arrival time, everyone had great fun, and your son turned one! Get over it ASAP; you are being unreasonable.

I think this is same nutter troll who is upset because her nanny wouldn't spend time with her on nanny!s off time. Irrespective, if you ate for real OP, you are a twit.

Nanny here- I always arrive late to my charges Bday parties. Why? Well I don't have kids and it's kind of uncomfortable making small talk with people for 2-3hrs!! My boss has never said anything, I think she understands!

OP your expectations are way to high and you're being very dramatic and over emotional, and possibly OCDish. Most nannies (or people in general) don't get as excited about your little snowflakes birthday party the way you do. Be thankful she even arrived. It was probaly a chore for her to begin with.

this is me as well. I'm not good at and don't enjoy idle talk with people I don't know and am not likely to see again. An hour is about my max. I'm also not very good at gracefully leaving when I've had enough so I've started bringing other kids (I work for a few families or and often do shares so the circles cross with the kids) and that makes it less awkward for me.

OP, I have purposely skipped or came in late to my charges birthday parties when they were that little... why? Because I know the children gravitate to me and won't go to other people. Seriously 60 people would have been overwhelming for the baby.

OP is out of line here.

When a nanny attends a party, often she feels obliged to help out with the children and/or the party. Maybe by coming late, your nanny was making sure she didn't spend two hours working for free.

Everyone arrived on time, except one person. My nanny. The woman I hold responsible for my child can't even show up at the proper time for his very first birthday. She was 45 minutes late, came in without an excuse. No apology, nothing. Several of my friends made comments to me, I luckily made up an excuse for her saying her car had engine problems. I just found it all very inconsiderate. I understand if she is a little late, but 45 minutes and no phone call? It makes it seem like she doesn't care at all!

Chill out! It was the kids FIRST birthday party. She showed up, which wasn't necessary of her to even do. I never knew of a party where it was required of EVERYONE to show up at a certain time, that people couldn't come late or leave early. And again, it's the kids first birthday. He will never even know. Unless she was getting paid to come that day and starting from the original party time, there is no such thing as showing up late and it being wrong.

I would recommend taking two "get over yourself" and don't call in the morning.

Is she usually prompt?
If so, then perhaps something happened. Talk to her.

If she is usually late, then why were you surprised?
