She's correct! If you don't comply with the laws in your state regarding filming and recording audio, then anything you catch on those recordings is inadmissable in court. Basically anything obtained illegally can't be used against you. |
You all need to grow up. HOW many times has this topic come up in a thread now? Too many. Cameras are common in nanny world. Either get a new job if you're uncomfortable or suck it up! What are you doing that can't be seen on camera? Your bosses are not trying to sell footage of you on the Internet. Seriously get over it! |
Report them and then sue them for violating your rights. |
OP-sorry it's so hard to get an actual response here...the cameras are going to make you uncomfortable for a while, there's no way around it, but I would make it super clear up front that the cameras are not a method for micromanaging. |
Haha, I was going to suggest the same thing. They totally forget there are cameras on the show and half of them have made out, had sex or (accidentally?) flashed the cameras at some point. |
The nanny should put some restrictions in her contract to protect herself. |
1. You'll forget that they are there.
2. Use it as an opportunity to show them how awesome you are with their kids. 3. Don't stress about kids being kids. Parents know that kids cry, make messes and have their moments. The parents will only get angry with you if you are being mean or ignoring the kids. 4. It will make you feel self conscious or avoid being on your phone all day. This isn't bad because its hard to break the habit of being on your phone, checking your Facebook page, or texting. A phone is sort of like having a big bag of chips in front of you. If its there and there is no reason not to eat it, its easy to eat the whole bag. The camera helps you stay aware of staying off it. 5. I can't imagine that parents have time to watch every second. They'll probably watch more in the beginning and not much later on. |
Just creepy, pp. |
I wouldn't be comfortable working in a home with cameras. As a parent I'd never expect my nanny to be filmed either. It's not about doing something wrong- I also don't want to scratch my ass through my jeans and have it on camera!!! |
Exactly. I can see some goofy DB sneering with his buddies, at a clip of the nanny doing something really stupid and funny (to them). Yeah, and one day it'll be on YouTube going viral. Ha, ha. I don't think I want to wonder about some guy's integrity when it comes to videotaping me for hours and hours everyday. |
People keep acting like it's about getting caught behaving poorly at work...and maybe for some people it is. I think the majority of us would just feel awkward and embarrassed around cameras. The other day one of my kids got really wound up and roughousey and yanked down my shirt and my boob flopped out! Do I really want this moment immortalized on film? |
Haha...that made my morning! I think that is really the crux of the issue. Most of us are doing our jobs, and very well at that, this job just happens to entail duties that leave the door open for a lot of embarrassing moments that do not need to be caught on camera. |
Family just put cameras up. It weirds me out. They can see us from wifi but say they don't. They don't record anything. I've been here for 18 months. Just did it recently. |
And you simply hope not to become DB's office entertainment, as he checks up on you. Very funny. |
There are cameras in almost every employment nowadays. They wont be watching you all day every day and my guess is theres a reason why they're going up.. Maybe they think you're not paying attention to their kids? Not cleaning when you have 2+ hours of downtime, etc. |
