I have been twice in the last 7months with my nanny family. The first time in Feb mb, her mom, kids 2, 6 & 11, and I drove to Disney from Michigan! We stayed in a condo on that trip. The first trip went remarkably well and we all had a great time. We went to Disney two days, the pool at the condo 3 days and Busch Gardens one day. It was really nice having those rest days! Really the only negative was the 11yr old trying to hook me up with some college baseball players at our resort- every time they were around she would start yelling "she's single & lonely boys!" She also took them our leftover ice cream before we headed home and told them "this is from my nice nanny" LOL- she had rules the second time ![]() The second time in June mb, kids 2,7,11,12 and I flew to Disney and stayed at one of the Disney resorts. The second trip the 12 yr old (who didn't come on first trip) was an issue being mouthy to adults and rude to the other kids. It was agreed before trip that any misbehaving child would go to daycare at hotel, so after 3 hrs of her behavior I took her back to hotel on bus and left her at the daycare and went back to the park to enjoy the rest of the day with mb and the other kids. 2yr old got dehydrated and threw up on me in a gift shop at Downtown Disney, we got all cleaned up and headed to bus to go back to hotel and he threw up on his mom. We were at a park days 1,,2,4 &5. Day 3 we did the pool and downtown disney. I definitely need a few days off when we got home from this trip ![]() My advice: -Utilize as many fast passes as you can- and know which rides you want to try and get them for ahead of time. Use those in combination with rider swap if adults want to go on a ride kids can't go on. Ex: Get 2 fast passes for splash mountain MB & DB ride with the fast passes asking for child swap when entering. The MB and nanny ride when they get off- cuts down the wait time a ton! -WATER- 2 yr old had sippy cup all day and still got dehydrated. Push the water keep suggesting kids to drink water! -Take a few small new toys to keep with you at all times. I took a pack of imaginext monsters university toys and brought them out all the time. While big kids were on rides, waiting for food, waiting in line for ride, on plane ride. I actually took like 8 of those toys so I could trade them out, but he only used two the whole time. He was much happier to have something to hold onto. -Vera Bradley backpack is perfect for park. We put snacks, water bottles, toys, sunscreen, $, diapers etc in ours. -Take ponchos if you plan to be at park in afternoon. In June it rained between 3-5 every afternoon. -If you plan to be in park all day find a way to sit down for a meal. Reservations are ideal so you can go somewhere and be waited on. But even sitting down at Pizza Planet and finding a table in the air conditioning for an hour was amazing! Even if it means you get a snack and then do a late lunch or something so you don't have to wait too long. MB and I both agreed it saved our sanity. -Hollywood studios doesn't have a lot for the 2yr old age. Toy Story mania was my favorite ride, but it was really the only ride for him. There are lots of shows there that are good, and we got to see Mike& Sully, Woody, Buzz & army guy, Wreck it Ralph and Vanellope These were super exciting to 2yr old. They are no longer having the Pixar parade at Hollywood Studios which was supposed to be a highlight of our time at that park for him. They currently have a Monsters Inc dance party thing going on instead Magic Kingdom was without a doubt the best for 2yr olds. Epcot has several boat rides and a Nemo ride that 2 year old enjoyed. We were very rushed at animal kingdom but the safari was a lot of fun and there is an area made especially for little kids by the dinos. -Have a stroller/wagon for the kids. There's TONS of walking. I know the 2 year old I nanny for doesn't usually use his stroller anymore but it was imperative to have at Disney. If your 2 yr olds are prone to running away I might suggest to mb one of those backpacks with leashes attached to them. Before going to Disney with my nanny family I NEVER would have thought to put those on my child, but after Disney I would consider it if my child was prone to running off. -If you are staying at Disney and using the buses to get around hold on to kids for dear life while waiting for bus, I saw 2 different kids step off sidewalk to see bus coming and nearly get run over...SO scary! I spent a lot of time on this website before we went and learned a LOT! http://www.couponingtodisney.com/the-disney-world-training/ That's all I can think of right now, I hope that helps! I thought it was a lot of fun, and plan to go to Florida again with them in February. This time to Disney water park, Sea World and Universal. |
