OP you're going to have to weed out many, MANY, lazy, unreliable, unappreciating nannies. Once you weed those ones out you'll be able to spot the very few, great, educated, loving, nurturing nannies who wont call out, expect everything from you. The ones who are flexible and will be professional and have a loving bond with your children.

OP ignore the idiots!

I +1 the recommendations for careful interviewing and good background checking. That means references and criminal/dmv - the whole thing. There are many wonderful nannies out there (and a few trolling nannies and families that poison this forum).

This is best for your infant and will also be good for your 2 yr old if you enroll that one in a PT preschool program. Especially in the early years a good nanny can be a huge asset invhelpin your kids develop strong relations ships with a stable caregiver. I think that is a big advantage over daycare where they have to compete more for attention and caregivers are likely to cycle more.
