If there's one thing I've learned from this forum, it's to be extremely self-conscious about how I'm doing my job. My MB trusts my judgment, but the last time I met up at the zoo with one of my friends (who has a daughter the same age as my charge), I felt nervous about leaving the two of them together while I peed. Of course this is the type of thing that it would never have occurred to MB to get upset about, but I often find myself thinking "what would DCUM say?" but then I have to consider that many of the posters on DCUM are batshit insane.

I am sure it would be okay if it was only for a short period of time. Just make sure you really trust your friend because if anything happens to the kids, the liability is yours and yours ALONE.

For longer stints, I would ask the family if it would be okay.
