Found out one lady was using someone else's Social Security number to work. I think its a fair question. The cost is about $60 to do at local police station and gives you peace of mind that the correct person is using the correct name.

Never heard of nanny fingerprinting. You can see her driver's license to confirm identity. If she didn't have a SS#, she was illegal but such a deal for those who want it.

OMFG I would never consent to be fingerprinted and no, there is nothing on my record. You're crazy!

Moms please fingerprint only way to know who is really in your house. People can buy a fake drivers license and use fake social security numbers. A lot of nanny agencies require it, how else do you do a full criminal check?

Never heard of any agency asking for fingerprints. If you have as you claim, which agencies?
I bet they ask for urine and DNA to? I don't think so.

I have registered at seven nanny agencies over the years, four of them "high-end," and none of them asked for my fingerprints. They do a full criminal check using your social security number, which is attached to your name, which is verified using legal documents - a passport, a driver's license AND a social security card, a non-driver's ID and a ______, etc. There is a whole list of possible documents or combinations of documents that are accepted as proof of identity for employment, and they use the same ones for criminal checks.

I have been fingerprinted for plenty of jobs. However, were I on the fence about a job and they asked me to be fingerprinted, it would be a deal breaker. If you are so paranoid and un-trusting from the get go, it would not bode well for our future relationship. You do not build trust by background checking alone and its unfortunate that so many people are unwilling to spend the time it really takes to get to know the people they hire to care for their children. You can learn a lot more about someone's character by spending a few days together than you can by looking at a computer printout. This is truly one of those situations where you get out what you put in...

A credit check??

I am a highly recommended nanny and have been for the past seven yrs and have awful credit due to a bad bf relationship yrs ago!! If any of my employers had checked my credit and gotten wind of it, I would never be where I am today.

I am slowly, but surely working to pay it off, but how could I without getting the good jobs I have been getting???

It doesn't make any sense to not hire someone w/lousy credit, yet at the same time expect them to pay their bills and better their credit if you won't even hire them in the first place!! Somehow that logic never made sense to me.
