Where do you post your face with personal info?[/quote

Not the prior poster here, but a great many professional women have a headshot posted on a business or employer's website and/or on Linked In. A Sitter City profile contains no more personal information than either of those forums.

Some do, but the reality is that the nanny, not the parent, is the one seeking employment. Parent and nanny are not equally situated in that context.

If someone doesn't have a profile picture I wonder why.

I mean, it is not that hard to upload a picture online these days.
I sometimes suspect that the profile is fake or that the profile person does not want certain other people to know that she is looking for a nanny job. I wonder what the reasons are for this, etc.

And yes, I am sure those that post with a child do so with parental permission.

I'll be honest. I don't have a profile picture because I have a scar on my face and I think I would be prematurely judged. Fortunately, I have met great families who after interviewing have called me back, so I guess the not having a profile picture is not a deterrent for me atleast.

It is incredible how many young women post photos of themselves that are overtly sexy or otherwise inappropriate for a professional context. The fact that they do not know any better tells me a lot about their judgment. Every job I've ever posted garners more applicants than I can spend time talking with, so the photo is just a quick way for me to rule out people who will not be a good fit for my family.

Also, when someone does not post a photo, I figure he or she is not serious enough about working to figure out how to upload a photo. That concerns me, because I need someone who is capable of navigating various obstacles in the course of caring for my kids.

+1
My profile has my kids' photos on it. If a nanny wanted a photo of me she could have one, but I felt like she'd be more interested in how I see my kids.

Parents who can afford one of the few top-notch nannies, compete with each other, to land the professional nanny of their choice. Of course, they most likely would not waste their valuable time on sittercity or care.com.
