LOL you haven't checked your credit card statement in 5 months?! |
Has anyone had any luck with Care.com? Are you happy with the types of candidates who look there? |
Life is busy. I just got charged 2 more times on my ONE month membership. I downgraded it right away and wrote a letter in anger to them. Of coz it did not get me anywhere they just wrote me a long letter telling me how this renewal feature was helping their other customers, and that the feature was stated in their enrollment page, bah bah bah. They just set themselves up to ripoff anyone who did not pay enough attention. So if you have to use it, remember you downgrade it and don't give them any chance to do the same thing to you. |
why are you all so cheap 40 a month is not that much to spend on your children |
I'm using Care.com now to search for a nanny and finding it extremely frustrating.
I imagine it's annoying on the applicant side also. Not sure yet if the aggravation will be worth it. |
I wouldn't waste my hard-earned money on paying for a website that allows any "Jane" off the street to post a free profile calling herself a nanny.
Anyone and everyone has the ability to post a free childcare profile on this website and can claim they are a childcare professional, etc. And the commercials are just a scam. The CEO of this site, Miss Sheila should be ashamed at all the families she is ripping off. She makes Care.com seem like a cheaper alternative to an agency, but you cannot compare a childcare website to an agency. It's like comparing apples to oranges. Parents would be better off keeping their monies and finding the same types of nannies on Craigslist. Or the local newspaper. |
I always seem to be smarter than the average bear. I try to not do much over the internet but when I do have to pay for something I buy a pre-pay Visa and use that. It never has any more money on it so they can try to bill it all they want.

Nanny here.
I use care (but find most families are looking for date nights or babysitters, not nannies), sittercity (same issue), gonannies (I search for live-in nanny positions only, and get a good national list), enannysource (search for live-in nanny positions, good national list) and nannies4hire (dashboard is set to US/Canada live-in positions, best option for finding diverse jobs). From the feedback I've gotten from parents (and my own feedback): Nannies4hire: allows a nanny to give access to all parents, no matter who purchased the background checks and driving record, which parents like! The parents seem to like that it's up to them how much of the profile to fill in, and there's no word limit, so some have nothing filled in until later in the first week, and others post 1000+ words per section. If you go into the contact tab of a profile, you can see all communication between a nanny and the family. Nanny can give family access to list of references with one click, same with background check and driving record, and it's easy to go into the reference and background check pages to take a family off the allowed list. Replies automatically copy the message into the bottom of the response. Enannysoure: No feedback on background check/driving record. Providing references is very cumbersome, most easily done through a message (I keep mine in a saved message). Communication between nanny and family is NOT grouped together in any way, so unless you remember who you have contacted, it's very easy to apply for the same position multiple times. Replies do NOT copy the original to the bottom of the response or put them in a thread. Most cumbersome site that I use. Gonannies: Nanny may purchase basic background check and provide access to families, but it's not worth it (only SSN trace and sex offender database check). When a family purchases a background check, Nanny can't see the background check or give access to another family. Only way to see all messages between nanny and family is to go into the profile, click the icons at the top for either sent or received, it will pull up both. Allows nanny (not sure whether nanny can do same) to save numerous searches to run anytime with new results. 1000 character limit for all messages, but will allow as many extras as necessary to be sent. Sittercity: No feedback on background check/driving record. Replies to messages are kept in a thread together. Search feature is annoying trying to narrow/widen, so I customized my search and bookmarked it. 2500 character limit, no contact with families until they reply to application. Care: Replies to messages are kept in a thread. Search is easy to narrow/widen. Nanny may grant access to any family for all background checks/driving records on file. There was a mistake in my background check; trying to get it fixed took 3 hours on the phone with the company who ran it, they can't update the check on the site and Care only lists one page (the highlights of my 10 page check). With that said, the check is thorough, but families may not believe that due to the brevity of the information on the site, so now I'm offering a scanned copy of my corrected check at interview. None of the sites charge nannies for the basic site services, but all try to get the nanny to purchase their own background checks. All sites require the family to pay if they want to reply to nannies. |
For nannies (like me) that search nationally, craigslist and newspapers are irrelevant, they don't give the same coverage. |
care.com pricing is much cheaper yearly https://www.iparentinglife.com/sittercity-vs-care-com-which-is-best/ |
Care.com is a rip-off! Even I pay monthly fee, they don’t show you the recent job adds, unless you go “carepro” or get prime membership and keep paying every month. They show old adds that were expired. I know that cause when I look at other job services, care.com had new adds that doesn’t show at their website for regular members like me. |
I signed up for 1 month DELIBERATELY. Had no idea i would be charged monthly. WHAT A SCAM. I have the se ccunti had in 2015. I signed up for 1 month in 2015. I was not charges recurring. This is not right. Why Call it a 1 month membership? You are sneaky and charging each month. My bank was alerted and reimbursed me and is disputing the charges.
I will never use you again. |
It's:
$39/mo for 1 month $26/mo for 3 months $13/mo for 12 months |
I found my absolutely awesome housekeeper (she also cooks, does errands etc) on Care.com. Then I canceled. It took a few attempts to find the right way to cancel but I did. |
I did not authorize this : PURCHASE CCI*CARE.COM 737-2023114 MA
CARD4163 03/18/22 $18.99 I merely attempted to view the site. Backed out when they wanted money. I won’t pay for job searching. But they somehow obtained my banking info and charged UNAUTHORIZED. Creepy. No possible contact whatsoever to dispute. Very untrustworthy and creepy |
