OP, employing your mother, who you knew was a drinker, was bound to create complications of one kind or another. You'll just have to talk to her as 1) an adult and 2) the mother of your children.


I agree.. I laughed when I seen the first comment ("Get her help, pronto!").. As if she's an alcoholic.

OP, it's your child. You're obviously not pushing the issue. If it's really a problem then get another care giver.. Ohhhh, that's right, you'd have to pay alot more money.

Um, OP, you say she "works" 11am-7pm, but helps out from 8am-11am. It sounds like she's overworked and underpaid ($250/week for between 40-55 hours.week?).

OP, I suspect that the reason your mom volunteered for this job is because she can no longer take care of herself (i.e., hold down the kind of job that pays the bills). Do you really believe the last drink she has is the one you see before you head to work?

Your mom needs help, and daycare isn't the devil.
