Entitled moms, get the F off your high horse. You hired someone else to raise your kids for you. Or you can do it yourself. Why not???
|
She is not "raising my kids" she is essentially a highly educated homework helper that also cooks dinner for my family |
If she has done everything that you all agreed she would do when you hired her, then she's done nothing wrong. Just because there is a spare moment (in which she is still providing the supervision you are paying her for) doesn't mean she should busy herself with whatever pleases you, and she did not agree to do upon hiring. Housekeepers command a higher hourly rate. If you want someone who is mostly a housekeeper, higher one and expect to pay for it. You hired an afterschool sitter, and she is doing her job. |
There! |
And you are a "hands on" parent, huh? |
*hire. Sorry |
OP,
You are wrong. She completed all the tasks you asked and as you said she provides great care for your kids. It's not her job to go around your house and straighten up your pantry or refrigerator. And, $15 an hour for 2 kids isn't a ton of money for a nanny with a college degree. Good luck finding another nanny who will be your maid/assistant/nanny for a measly $15 an hour. You sound like a piece of work. |
Very well said. Thank you. |
OP, If you are home, why the hell can't you do these tasks since its YOUR household?! |
PP I work as a lawyer from my home office so that I can earn the type of money that allows me to provide my family with whatever luxury I see fit. My salary is what allows me to hire a nanny to ensure that my children are getting adequate amounts of individual attention (academically speaking). Admittedly, I'm not terribly hands on, but I never liked helicopter parents anyway. She takes home $15 an hour after taxes. That is a decent wage. |
How old were you when you last supported yourself on a 15/hr income?? |
"Nickeled and Dimed" |
She works for me part time! 15 an hour is an amazing part time income! She could very well be waitressing or Bartending when she's not working for all I know to supplement her income. |
What the hell does that have to do with anything? |
$15 an hour is not amazing for anyone to live off of. Maybe the nannies who work 45-50 hours a week plus overtime can live off that but as a part time job, $15 an hour MAYBE covers gas for her car and some groceries. I highly doubt she's able to pay rent from a part time gig. I find it very sad that you don't even know what she does to supplement her income. I feel bad for this girl. She does her job and exactly what's asked of her, and you come here to bitch and moan because she's not running around your house tidying everything up. |
