Nannies: What do you consider arriving "on time" for work?

Some people don't like it when you arrive early.

Work starts for me at 8am. I arrive 10-15 minutes early every day so I can take shoes off, put away my lunch, wash hands and find out how the babies evening was. My biggest pet peeve is being late.

I hope they respect your wishes, as well, at the end of your work day. I think it's so great when everyone functions appropriately.

You are so tiresome in your attempts to make MBs the enemy on every single thread.

I'm the PP who wrote about arriving to work 10-15 minutes early every day. Where in my post did I make the MB's the enemy?

I would say something about synchronizing your clocks before complaining about her lateness. By the clocks in the house I work at I could be two minutes early, right on time or four minutes late

I used to arrive 5-10 mins early, but then MB would just hand over the baby immediately, I literally had to wash my hands one at a time while holding the baby and take off my shoes and put away my lunch with one hand. So, now I arrive at 8am exactly.

It stresses me out if I'm not 5-10 minutes early. It's obsessive on my part, but it works for us.

I think it's a little exaggeration, but if it REALLY bothers you, maybe you can mention about you leaving 15 minutes early and ask the nanny to get there a little early too.

If you're really letting her go a half hour early every day, then I agree about shifting the times by 15 minutes. That way, she's in your house and you can leave by 8, and you've still got a buffer on the other end.

This would annoy me, too, but since you're already paying her for extra time, I guess I don't see the big deal for you.

Why not stop being so defensive and get working on solving the issues at hand? Of course, if we never address the underlying root causes of the issues, all the band aids in the world aren't going to fix the source of the problem.

I start work at 7:45 and I usually get there at 7:30 or even before. I get off work at 4:15 and sometimes, mb will let me go at 4. I really like that about my bosses. I'm one of the few lucky nannies who doesn't have to worry about her boss coming in late. I was 3 minutes late once because of a terrible snowstorm, and I felt TERRIBLE. Db was like "omg. Don't even worry about it, you can't control the weather"
