I have to work and am pissed about it cause it means I have entertain the rugrats all damn day as they are off school. The parents could've taken the day off. I would be even more pissed though if they were off and still asked me to come in. That is idiotic. Yes, I hate my job.

I am working as per the contract I negotiated and signed and have absolutely no problem with it.

So, you're angry because you actually have to work a whole paid day at your job.

It sounds like you need to make a career change if the idea of spending all day with the children is unappealing to you.

They are great parents and they love to spend time with their child but sometimes it is just hard to be productive and get things done with a one year old running around. Sometimes they work from home, run errands, do things around the house, etc. They are never just home watching TV or doing something completely unimportant. Yes, sometimes I wish they would give me the day off when I know they are going to be home, but at the same time I understand why they need me to come in.

+1

My MB rarely does anything for herself so on the really rare occasions she has me work on a day she has taken off I am happy to do so. She needs time to get things done. It doesn't even bother me if she schedules a massage on those rare days because she rarely treats herself to things like that.

I will admit that the days DB takes off or "works" from home are a bit irritating as he's really just surfing online and watching tv. However I also realize that having him in charge of the kids for an entire day would likely end in disaster so it's better for all involved if I still work a normal shift when DB is home. He's a great father, but all day would put him over the edge if one of the kids was having a rough day (not uncommon around here).

No she has every right to judge as it sounds like her MB is a lazy bitch who shoulda never had kids if she can't treat her nanny with the respect needed during disasters like a hurricane. Too many fucked up parents who should've been sterilized.

I'm a pp from above. I'm also working for a teacher, I'm never off. She even had me work during the hurricane when she was off and got pissed when I asked to leave earlier.
Not bitter or anything, I'm just surprised she doesn't wanna see her child for at least half that day. She usually complains that she never gets to see her kid, so it's weird to me that she drops him off for a full day when she's home.

PP here...sorry about that! Yes, I definitely get more days off than usual, but that does makes me so much me more appreciative of them and the few times they have asked me to work on a school holiday,of course I would never say no...I used to find it surprising how much time I got off because of the school schedule, but the parents genuinely like being with the kids when not working.
