Need wayyy more detail what you’re looking for to give any sensible advice. Every city, every country is an option.

Stick in one country. England, Ireland or Scotland would be easier first European trips.

Ireland is lovely in Spring.

Germany would be my next suggestion.

We are planning Portugal at the end of March.

We are considering Amsterdam and Belgium next spring break. But that will probably change before we book anything... we have also considered Israel or Costa Rica.

Greece. Direct flights to Athens. A couple of days in Athens, a few on an island or two.

My kids (12 and 9) vastly preferred Costa Rica to Amsterdam and Belgium (and London and Paris). Do you kids like museums, looking at “old stuff” and wandering around neighborhoods”? Or do they like zip lining, rafting, and beach?

There aren't direct flights from DC to Athens until late spring (May?).

Ages of kids? Where have they already been or liked? Interests?

London had a ton to offer: for history, Tower of London, Hampton Court, Churchill War Museum;
Culture: British Museum (amazing kids' discovery backpacks--my 8yo had the best time), Tate Modern; shopping (Hamley's Toy Store, Liberty's, bookstores); tour of their longest-standing theatre was amazing and hilarious (Drury Lane?); great food (Wahaca!! Best Mexican restaurant ever!) Even just riding the double-decker buses was highly popular. We went in meh weather in March and still had a great time.

If it's your first Europe trip, I'd do London. If not, we did Amsterdam and Copenhagen for spring break last year, and it was amazing, especially the tulips around Amsterdam.

Florence, Venice and Rome have great weather during this time of year.

Have they been to europe yet? If no, I suggest doing France with a couple days in Paris and then elsewhere. Kids love Paris.

Not OP but have the same q. MS-aged kids have already been to London and Paris but looking for someplace we can fly nonstop from DC.
Portugal? Spain? Ireland? Don't care about the beach so don't need heat, but also don't wan to be cold/wet the whole time. Have 6 days or so.
