Because she is not saying that's what she prefers, she is strongly inferring that moms who don't heat bottles are negligent. Look at her language. "If you insist cold bottles are good for your baby". "If you don't want to shock their digestion with cold formula" "If they aren't sleeping well at night, try warming it up". "It makes sense to give it to them at their body temperature to make it easier for them". This language is harmful to new moms who are already struggling enough, and to top it off, her agenda isn't based in any kind of science or fact. It's like an anti-vaxxer saying she doesn't want to stab her baby with needles full of animal byproduct but if you want to do it, then go for it. The language is just mean, and medically incorrect.


I'm sorry, but even as a new mom, other people's opinions just didn't mean that much to me. She's not claiming to be a doctor or a nurse, she's just some rando on DCUM being a rando on DCUM. If you take every comment on DCUM to heart, and have no critical thinking skills, then you are more dangerous to yourself than any "formula pusher" could possibly be.


That's great that other people telling you that you were neglecting to to the best thing for your baby didn't upset you as a brand new mother, even when that person was telling you that pediatricians agreed with what she was saying (which is incorrect). Many, many new women would be upset at someone telling them they were "shocking their baby's digestive system" by not giving them heated bottles, when they might already be feeling guilt for not BFing. The bottom line is, why is this poster pushing this strange agenda? All she is accomplishing is maybe upsetting some new moms, and definitely not spreading important information since what she's saying isn't factual. The real question is, why does she keep saying things like "well why warm up any food that we eat, since it isn't worth the time"? Why say something so snarky to a new mom who is trying to feed her baby?


Oh, PLEASE. The people I listened to as a new mom were the *people actually in my life,* like doctors/nurses, trusted family and friends, and well-respected baby book authors. Not internet randos, sorry.

Taking DCUM so seriously is like walking by the National Enquirer at the checkout line and bemoaning how harmful it is that new moms will surely start believing that Princess Di was an alien who was killed in a conspiracy by Captain Picard.

But truly, why say those snarky things to new moms? What's your agenda? Because you're right, it is a beautiful day, life is good for most of us, so why make underhanded comments to new moms who are formula feeding?

Nobody is disagreeing that human body temperatures are higher than typical modern-day room-temperature temperatures in industrialized countries.

I guess around 98 degrees, and around 72 degrees? What's your point? If you're going to say it expends too much energy for a baby to process 72 degree formula, I'll stop you right there though because there is no scientific basis for that and we give premies room temperature formula in the NICU all the time despite their difficulties with temperature regulation and it does not harm them in any way.

Sorry! I did remember one comment about how 98.6 was the ideal temperature for formula because that's what the baby's body was primed to accept or some nonsense so I assumed it was a quote.
